Our Hevre Religious School serves students from PreK (age 4) through 7th grade, offering rich experiences rooted in Jewish identity, spirituality, and community. We foster a warm, inclusive environment where families come together to build a strong foundation in Jewish learning, tradition, and values.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Our program is guided by three core pillars:

Typical Sunday Morning Schedule
- 8:15 AM – Hebrew Classes (Grades 4–6)
- 9:30 AM– Judaics Classes (PreK–6), Hebrew + B’nei Mitzvah Prep (Grade 7)
- 11:30 AM – All-School T’filah (Parents Welcome!)
- 12:00 PM – Student Pick-Up
Hevre Hebrew Program (Grades 4–6) | 8:15–9:15
Skill-based Hebrew instruction using Torah Aura and Shalom Learning, with placement based on fluency and reading proficiency.
Jewish Values Curriculum (PreK–7th Grade) | 9:30–12:00
Hands-on learning using the Shalom Learning curriculum, focused on Jewish values, holidays, history, and culture.
7th Grade B’nei Mitzvah Classes
- 9:30-10:30 AM – Hebrew & Prayer Workshop
- 10:30-11:30 AM– B’nei Mitzvah Project (PBL-style learning)
- 11:30 AM – Lunch with Ma’ayan Teen Group
○ After their B’nei Mitzvah, students transition into 8th grade pods but continue attending the 10:30 AM project class.
Youth Before-School Drop-Off Program (PreK–3rd, & 7th Grade)
- Sundays, 8:15–9:15 AM – Crafts and quiet activities led by teen madrichim.
- $10 drop-in fee per child (billed via ShulCloud).
- Students in Grades 4–6 attend Hebrew classes during this time.
- 7th Graders are able to come early to work on Hebrew/Prayers, homework, etc. (this is ONLY is they have a younger sibling in the Hebrew class)
Friday Youth Shabbat Celebrations
- 5:00 PM – Tot Shabbat (Chapel)
- 5:30 PM– Religious School Family Dinner in Ballroom (hosted by Hevre)
- 6:15 PM – Teen/Adult/Community Service (Sanctuary)
- 7:30 PM – Oneg

- August 22 – Back-to-School Shabbat (honoring teachers & staff)
- October 10– Sukkot Shabbat (featuring 5th & 6th Grades)
- December 19 – Hanukkah Shabbat (3rd & 4th Grades)
- January 30 – Shabbat Shirah (1st & 2nd Grades)
- February 27 – Purim Shabbat (Community Celebration)
- May 8 – End-of-Year & Consecration (PreK & Kindergarten)
Shabbat Attendance Requirements (Grades 4-7)
To help prepare for B’nei Mitzvah and strengthen spiritual identity. Participation in Youth Shabbats and B'nai Mitzvah Shabbat services for other CBI teens, counts towards these requirements:
- 4th Grade – Attend 5 Friday Night services
- 5th Grade– Attend 6 Friday Night services
- 6th Grade – Attend 8 Friday Night services
- 7th Grade – Attend 4 Friday night services, 2 Saturday morning Torah study sessions & morning services (suggested to combine)
HELPING HEVRE - FAMILY TIKKUN OLAM PROJECTS
These are special Sundays that include hands-on tikkun olam projects, rooted in Jewish values. Includes a nosh & project from 10:00–11:30 AM, followed by religious school T’filah. Each grade level has a date for parents to come and join their students in the ballroom and participate in something meaningful for our community! - September 28 (5th & 6th Grade) – JNF + Recycling Workshop (Bal Tashchit)
- November 23 (3rd & 4th Grade) – Lunch Bags & Turkey Delivery (Feeding the Hungry)
- All of November – JFCS Adopt-a-Family Drive (Tzedakah)
- February 22 (1st & 2nd Grade) – Hygiene Kits (Human Dignity)
- April 19 (PreK & K) – Bedtime Bundles (Peace and Kindness)

Hevre Religious School Tuition & CBI Membership
Membership Requirement: Families must be members of Congregation Beth Israel once their oldest child enters 4th grade in order to participate in Hebrew instruction and B’nei Mitzvah preparation. What your tuition supports:
Tuitions helps provide a rich and engaging experience for your child througout the year, including:
- Weekly challah, grape juice, and snacks
- A CBI t-shirt for each student
- Family meals for Hevre Shabbat and Helping Hevre service days
- Hebrew instruction and curriculum (Grades 4–7)
- Fall Retreat at Camp Stein (Grades 2–7)
