PROGRAM OVERVIEW (gRADES 8-12)

Our teen program follows a youth group–style model designed to build strong peer connections while living out the Jewish value of tikkun olam (repairing the world). Each month features a mix of social experiences that strengthen community bonds and interactive philanthropy projects that make a real impact in the greater Scottsdale/Phoenix area. Teens learn, lead, and serve through hands-on, experiential activities - from offsite service days to creative group challenges - building skills, friendships, and memories that last well beyond their time at CBI.

Ma’ayan teen programming will now meet on 2-3 designated Sundays each month, with a more intentional and balanced format:

  • 1 Sunday/month – Social Event – 12:00-2:00 PM (onsite or offsite, focused on fun & community building)
  • 1 Sunday/month – Philanthropy/Service Opportunity (offsite or hands-on community work). Times vary based on the project, but will still try to stay within the 12:00-2:00 PM window.
  • 1 Sunday/month – Teen Leadership Sundays – 11:30 AM–1:30 PMTeen Committee (Grades 8–12): Plan upcoming events and support teen initiatives
    ○ Confirmation Class (Grades 10–12): Meets with Rabbi Mason-Barkin on-site in the CBI Conference Room. $180 fee (in addition to Ma’ayan tuition) covers ceremony, oneg, and gifts for each teen.
    ○ Confirmation Class (Grades 10–12): Meets with Rabbi Mason-Barkin on-site in the CBI Conference Room. $180 fee (in addition to Ma’ayan tuition) covers ceremony, oneg, and gifts for each teen.

Additional Notes:
○ Those teens that are interested in joining RUACH, the youth choir, keep in those meetings 2-3 times a month, on Sundays, after Hevre classes (At 12:15). Lunch is included. Use this link to register:
○ Ma’ayan enrollment is no longer required to be eligible for paid madrichim positions once a teen turns 16.
○ In months with a teen trip, we will usually skip the offsite social event but will still hold a tikkun olam opportunity.
○ If you have already paid the $600 tuition but prefer to switch to the pay-as-you-go model, please let me know and we’ll adjust accordingly.
○ If you would like to keep the flat-rate option, please complete your teen’s enrollment here: https://cbiaz.shulcloud.com/school_enrollment.php
